Kinship Connect

Kinship Connect is a service designed to provide tailored and comprehensive casework activities that are beyond the scope of regular case management services, to empower kinship families to meet the complex needs of the children in their care and promote positive outcomes for both the children and their caregivers.

Research strongly supports this claim, and Impact Living Services fully embraces it. Specifically, kinship care is often the preferred option because it offers the least restrictive and most family-like environment for out-of-home placements. Children in kinship care experience fewer disruptions and demonstrate better permanency outcomes compared to those in non-familial placements. Nevertheless, kinship caregivers often face unique and complex challenges, especially when suddenly taking on the responsibility of caring for a child or children, which requires additional support and resources.

Kinship Connect aims to promote the well-being of children by preserving family connections, maintaining cultural continuity, enhancing stability, and improving overall outcomes for those in out-of-home care.

Additionally, Impact Living Services offers vital kinship services to youth placed with relatives or fictive kin. These placements can be part of a safety plan or serve as longer-term arrangements. Importantly, the youth in kinship care may or may not be in the custody of the Department of Social Services, depending on the specific circumstances of the placement.

Impact Living services provides expertly trained case managers in assisting Kinship families with their complex needs.
