About Carissa Bates
Carissa Bates holds a BS in Politics and Policy from Liberty University, MSW from George Mason University – Children, Youth, and Families Specialization and is a practitioner in Trauma Informed Care, Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). Carissa started her career in residential services in 2016. She started working for Impact in 2019 as a caseworker, and was the Site Supervisor of Fairfax for almost four years before stepping into the Program Manager role. She enjoys the outdoors and often spends weekends paddling the Potomac. Carissa is passionate about merging her knowledge of macro practice with micro practice needs, and her desire is to not only impact youth but to see them become leaders and change their communities.
About Independent Living
Impact Living Services’ Independent Living program provides essential support for youth transitioning out of foster care into adulthood. With a focus on helping individuals build independence, the program offers a variety of resources, including housing, education, and employment assistance. Additionally, participants receive life skills training in areas like financial literacy and time management, all while being empowered to thrive. By offering comprehensive guidance and support, Impact Living Services ensures these young adults have the tools they need to succeed. Through this program, they foster independence, confidence, and a positive path toward adulthood.
