About Al Friedman

Education: BA in Psychology from University of Maryland, College Park; MSW from University of Maryland, Baltimore City
Professional Specialties: Working with children, teenagers, and adults with Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Family and Relationship Challenges, as well as adults with Serious Mental Illness. Specialized training in the use of CBT, Trauma-focused CBT, working with couples.

Al Friedman has experience working in hospital settings, home/community-based setting, outpatient, and in foster care. He also has years of experience training/supervising clinicians. In his “free time”, he is an involved father of 3 young adults and 1 younger child. He coaches athletics and enjoys playing pickleball and working out at the gym. Al is a person-centered therapist who is active during sessions. He uses a sense of humor with a humane, down to earth approach to counseling.

  • Private: Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Sentara (Optima)
  • Self-Pay Rate:
    First Appointment (Comprehensive Needs Assessment) – $200.00
    Self Pay Rate (Subsequent Sessions) – $170.00
