Intensive Family Services (IFS) provides home-based crisis intervention, counseling, case management, and life-skills education for families with minors (under 18) at risk of out-of-home placement. Our approach is tailored to meet the unique needs of each family, helping prevent unnecessary disruptions and ensuring long-term success in the home.
IFS offers intensive, time-limited services primarily in the family’s home or other familiar environments. With 24/7 availability and small caseloads, we ensure that families receive the support and attention they need when they need it most.

Treatment Goals
The main goal of Intensive Family Services is to prevent unnecessary out-of-home placement of children. By providing timely, targeted intervention, we aim to equip families with the skills and resources necessary to manage challenges and reduce the need for more intensive interventions in the future. We focus on:
- Preventing out-of-home placement by providing on-site support
- Equipping families with the skills and resources to stay together
- Addressing immediate safety concerns and fostering long-term family stability
- Ensuring accessible and responsive care with therapists available 24/7
Length & Course of Treatment
IFS services are time-limited, with an emphasis on intensive support during a 90-day intervention period. This concentrated approach allows us to resolve immediate concerns while also teaching skills that empower families to manage future challenges independently.
Therapists utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches, including:
- Crisis intervention
- Motivational interviewing
- Parent education and support
- Trauma-informed therapy
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Skill-building techniques
How It Works
Our therapists meet with families promptly to address immediate needs. Services take place in a natural, familiar setting—typically in the home or other environments where the family feels comfortable. This approach allows for more effective problem-solving and creates a supportive space for families to work on critical issues.
Therapists maintain small caseloads, typically managing 3 to 5 families at a time. This ensures each family receives personalized, consistent support and access to resources when they need them most.
