Foster Parents Needed

At Impact Living Services, we understand that the journey to becoming a foster parent is both exciting and full of questions. We’re here to support you every step of the way, ensuring that you feel prepared, confident, and well-informed. Our process is designed to be thorough yet supportive, giving you the tools, training, and encouragement to welcome a child in foster care into your home. Here’s a step-by-step look at what to expect on this journey with Impact Living Services.

 

 

A team member will contact you promptly once we receive a referral expressing your interest. This initial conversation is a chance to answer your questions, learn about you and your family, and hear what drew you to fostering. We’ll ask some questions about your home environment, the space available for a child, and your experiences with children. This discussion allows us to understand your motivations and expectations so we can better support your unique fostering journey.

 

 

After our introductory conversation, we’ll invite you to complete an application. This application is a critical step in the process and helps us gather essential information about you and your household. Once your application is submitted, we’ll review it and provide you with details about the next steps.

 

 

With your application completed, you’ll enrolled in our  training center. This self-paced, online/hybrid training program allows you to begin preparing for fostering on a schedule that works for you. Through this training, you’ll gain foundational knowledge about trauma-informed care, communication strategies, and the unique needs of children in foster care.

 

 

We understand this journey is new, so our team will check in with you at each step to offer guidance, answer questions, and help with any obstacles. Once you’ve completed four of the required training modules, a team member will reach out to schedule your home visits. We aim to ensure you feel supported and have everything you need to move forward confidently.

 

 

Your home visits are an essential part of the certification process. During this time, our team will conduct three visits, each lasting 2 to 2.5 hours. These home visits are both informative and interactive, where we’ll conduct the standard home study assessments and additional training. We want to understand your home environment and discuss your goals for fostering in depth, so each visit includes opportunities for questions and collaborative learning.

 

 

While the home visits are in progress, you’ll continue completing your online training modules and gathering any additional documentation we need, such as background checks and other required paperwork. This ongoing process allows you to build your knowledge while progressing with the necessary administrative steps.

 

 

After completing the home study, required training, background checks, and all paperwork, the director will review your file for certification. Once everything is in place, you’ll officially become a certified foster parent with Impact Living Services! This process typically takes 45-90 days, depending on how quickly you complete the steps. We’re here to support you every step of the way, and once you’re certified, we’ll continue to be a resource as you welcome a child into your home.
