This year’s Tacos & Trivia event did both.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors, guests, donors, volunteers, and community supporters, Tacos & Trivia 2026 became a major success in support of housing opportunities for youth aging out of foster care in independent living.
The laughter, competition, and community spirit throughout the evening all pointed toward something much bigger: helping young adults build stable, independent futures.
And that mission matters deeply.
Why Independent Living Support Matters
Every year, young people age out of foster care without the family support systems many others rely on during early adulthood.
For most young adults, the transition into independence happens gradually. Parents or relatives often help with things like:
- Housing
- Transportation
- Budgeting
- Job guidance
- College decisions
- Emotional support
- Everyday life skills
Youth aging out of foster care frequently face those challenges alone. That’s where Independent Living services become essential.
At Impact Living Services, our Independent Living program supports youth and young adults as they work toward long-term stability, confidence, and independence. The program focuses on helping individuals develop practical life skills while also building the support systems and relationships necessary for lasting success.
This includes support with:
- Financial literacy and budgeting
- Employment readiness
- Education and career planning
- Transportation goals
- Daily living skills
- Healthy relationships
- Community connection
- Housing stability
Most importantly, the program recognizes that independence is not built overnight. Real change takes consistency, mentorship, encouragement, and access to opportunity.
Housing Creates Stability
One of the greatest barriers many youth aging out of foster care face is housing insecurity.
Without safe and stable housing, every other goal becomes harder to maintain. Employment, education, mental health, transportation, and long-term planning all become more difficult when someone does not know where they will live.
That is why support raised through events like Tacos & Trivia matters so much. The funds raised help expand housing opportunities and create stronger foundations for young adults transitioning into adulthood. Stable housing creates room for growth. It creates safety. It creates momentum. And often, it creates hope.
