Anger Management

Impact’s Anger Management curriculum equips youth to better understand and effectively manage anger. Impact staff—trained in both Handle with Care’s Tension Reduction Material and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques—guide participants through this process. The program follows a practical “Learn and Apply” model and adapts easily to both group and individual counseling settings.

Throughout the program, participants move through six structured and interactive modules. After completing each module, they take a quiz or demonstrate the skills they’ve gained to reinforce their learning and stay engaged. By the end of the program, each participant will not only develop meaningful anger management strategies but also create a personalized Anger Management or Anger Expression Plan that reflects their unique needs and experiences.

Program Structure

Each module is approximately:

  • 1–1.5 hours in a group setting
  • 1 hour in an individual setting

Participants keep a personal binder with handouts and exercises that build on each other. Upon completion of Module 6, youth are expected to share their plan with a Trusted Adult Support.

Modules Overview
  • The Tension and Tension Reduction Cycle
  • Social Support and “Solid Objects”
  • Internalizing and Externalizing Anger
  • Solution-Focused and Adaptable Tension Reduction Skills
  • Locus of Control
  • Putting It All Together
Group Sessions
  • Cost: $50 per session
  • Format: 6 weekly sessions (1–1.5 hours each)
  • Group size: 4–8 participants
  • Commitment: Attendance at all 6 sessions is required

Case Managers: Request 6 group sessions over 3 months to allow flexibility in scheduling and completion.

Individual Sessions
  • Cost: $75 per hour
  • Format: 6–8 sessions (2 hours each; total of 12–15 hours)
  • Location: At Impact offices or in-home

Case Managers: Request 15 hours of individual anger management over 3 months. This provides flexibility for missed sessions and deeper clinical support as needed.

Anger doesn’t have to control your life. With the right tools, consistent support, and a commitment to growth, you can recognize your triggers, reduce your tension, and respond with confidence instead of conflict. In fact, you can absolutely overcome uncontrolled anger when you bring the right mindset and use the resources available to you. Most importantly, your journey begins when you choose to understand yourself more deeply. And remember—you don’t have to take that journey alone. Start your journey HERE.
